Unable to connect to google chat

If you’re like me and you have a lot of friends who use Google Chat, then you have probably received this error message before: β€œUnable to connect to chat.” The last time I was able to access my Google Chat was during the 2016 presidential election campaign. It seems that something has changed on the internet and now it is really difficult to open up a chat window with someone.

Log in to your Google account on your web browser

Click on the three lines in the top left corner of the screen
Click on “Settings”
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Connections”
Click on “Google Chat” and enter your username and password (or sign in if you are already signed in)
Click on “OK”

Your Google account should now be connected to your chat session. If it isn’t, please try again. If still not working, please contact Google support.

Click on the Site Settings option in the drop down box

On the Site Settings page, click on the Blogging link.
On the Blogging page, you will see a list of blogs that are associated with your site. If there is not a blog listed for your site, you can create a blog by clicking on the New Blog button.
To connect your blog to Google Chat, go to: https://support.google.com/chat/answer/61414?hl=en&utm_source=gb-gplus-share and click on Connect to chat. Enter your Google Chat credentials and click on Connect. You will now be able to include links to Google Chat in your blog posts and receive notifications when people join or leave your chat session.

I’m having trouble getting connected to Google Chat. I’ve tried a few different things, and I can’t seem to get it to work.
I first tried going to google.com/chat and clicking on the link that says “Create an account.” But when I clicked on the link, it said that my computer was not configured to use Google Chat.
I then tried going to google.com/chat/join, but it said that I needed administrator privileges to join. I don’t have administrator privileges on my computer.
Finally, I tried going to google.com/chat/adduser, but it said that I needed a user name and password. I don’t have a user name or password for Google Chat.
Is there anything that I can do to get connected to Google Chat?

Scroll down and click on β€œCustomize this Site”

Under β€œSite Content”, click on β€œBlogs”
On the right, under β€œBlog Title”, type: Google Chat is not working for me!
Under β€œText to Display”, type:
